"In Seine-Saint-Denis, we do not encourage you to follow your dreams to the end", regrets Audrey Estrougo. But the young woman, who grew up in the "9 - 3", nonetheless pursued her ambition to become a director. She has just signed
Suprêmes
, her seventh film, which traces the birth of the rap group NTM. A story that also resonates with his own experience: “I also have a bit of a suburban label in the world of cinema. And I'm self-taught and driven by this notion of urgency, like Kool Shen and Joey Starr. Me, I make films because it is my way of living, of breathing, of expressing myself ... and there was also something of this order with them ”.
If Audrey Estrougo chose to relate the beginnings of this group, it is also because NTM was then at the origin of a new musical movement in France: hip-hop.
If its history is therefore an integral part of French culture, it is "not assumed as such by the country", regrets the director.
