Nearly 70 major sites in China are expected to open one after another

　　Construct 20 archaeological specimen warehouses in national key regions; realize the opening of 60 to 70 large sites; build 10 to 15 high-level site museums... The "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan for the Protection and Utilization of Large Sites" recently issued by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage , Clarified 14 key tasks in this field from 2021 to 2025.

A reporter from Beijing Youth Daily learned from the "Planning" that a protection pattern supported by 150 large sites has taken shape.

In the next few years, nearly 70 major sites in China are expected to be opened to the outside world.

　　The text of the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan for the Protection and Utilization of Large Sites" issued this time covers the four parts of "development situation, overall requirements, main tasks, and safeguard measures". Consolidate basic work and promote higher-level display and utilization.

The "Plan" uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative indicators to clarify 14 key tasks for the protection and utilization of large sites during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.

The "Planning" pointed out that the investment in archaeological research is unbalanced, and the overall foundation is still weak; the theoretical research on conservation and utilization and the scientific and technological guidance are insufficient, and the transformation of scientific research results is lagging; the control measures for the space use of large sites are not yet perfect, the innovation motivation of institutional mechanisms is insufficient, and the construction of a talent team is urgently needed Strengthen; the protection and display use mode is relatively simple, the national archaeological site park "one park, one policy" has not been fully implemented, the large sites have not many ways to "live", the vitality is insufficient, the contradiction between the protection and utilization of large sites and the development and construction of urban and rural areas Still outstanding.

　　What is a big site?

　　With reference to the "Administrative Measures for Special Funds for the Protection of Large Sites", large sites mainly include historical and cultural information that reflects the various development stages of ancient Chinese history involving politics, religion, military, science and technology, industry, agriculture, architecture, transportation, and water conservancy. Large-scale settlements, city sites, palaces, mausoleums, tombs and other sites, sites and cultural landscapes with significant value and far-reaching characteristics.

　　According to the relevant person in charge of the Department of Cultural Relics Protection and Archaeology of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, in 2005, the Ministry of Finance and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage jointly issued the "Measures for the Management of Special Funds for the Protection of Large Sites", officially launching the protection of large sites.

The State Administration of Cultural Heritage has successively formulated and implemented the "Eleventh Five-Year", "Twelfth Five-Year" and "Thirteenth Five-Year" special plans for the protection of major sites, and initially formed a major site protection pattern supported by 150 major sites, including the Grand Canal and the Silk Road. Seven major sites including Heliangzhu, Yinxu, Laosicheng, and Yuanshangdu have been included in the World Heritage List.
