15 million books in the 40th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair

 The management of the Sharjah International Book Fair revealed that the 40th session, which will start from the 3rd to the 13th of November at the Expo Center Sharjah, will display more than 15 million books, presented by more than 1,576 publishing houses from 83 countries from around the world, distributed over more than 1.3 One million titles in various languages ​​of the world, including 110,000 new titles that are presented for the first time.

The exhibition, which is organized annually by the Sharjah Book Authority under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, confirms its position as a global platform that hosts the most important cultural and literary events that lovers of reading and books await. » More than 970 cultural, artistic and entertainment events, hosting more than 85 writers from different countries of the world.

The book signing platform is witnessing a wide range of new release signing ceremonies for a number of writers from the Emirates and various countries, including publications of various titles between poetic works, novels, studies, history, literary criticism, translation, cookbooks, children's literature, arts, police sciences, legal research, archaeology and other fields.

The Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, stressed that the Sharjah International Book Fair renews with this session the bet on the book in building awareness and achieving a qualitative leap in the publishing industry at the regional and global levels, in addition to creating a global cultural movement, through the exhibition platform and its events that bring together In this course, a selection of famous literature and thought from the Arab region and the world.

The Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority said: “The exhibition represents a great opportunity to launch the book industry into a new stage, during which publishing houses crystallize more in connection with the aspirations and passions of readers, and through this vision, which aims to dialogue with awareness, the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, is embodied. The ruler of Sharjah, towards the interest in the book within the framework of an integrated civilized and developmental project, has become a title by which Sharjah is known.”

Al-Amiri explained that publishing houses, regardless of their versions and the languages ​​in which they are printed, provide through the exhibition knowledge that enriches readers and libraries, while emerging publishing houses test marketing opportunities and learn about the book market through an exhibition that is the most supportive of publishers, the largest in the region, and one of the largest Three book fairs in the world.


The list of publishing houses participating in this session is topped by the Arab Republic of Egypt with 295 publishing houses, the UAE with 250 publishing houses, 138 publishing houses from the United Kingdom, 112 from Lebanon, 93 from the Syrian Arab Republic, and 76 from Jordan.



Among the most prominent participating foreign publishing houses, 87 from India, 48 from the United States of America, 26 from Italy, 16 from Canada and Brazil, 14 from Spain, 12 from Mexico and France.

For the first time, 9 countries are participating in the exhibition: Colombia, South Sudan, Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
