“A memorial plaque to Mikhail Illarionovich Kutuzov was opened in Rishnevets,” TASS quotes the representative of the Russian Embassy in the republic, Vitaly Zhitnyuk. 

It is noted that the ceremony was attended by representatives of local authorities, the public and Russian Ambassador to Slovakia Igor Bratchikov.

The event took place on the day of the 276th anniversary of the birth of Kutuzov.

Kutuzov in December 1805, withdrawing the Russian army through Slovakia from the blow of Napoleonic troops after the Battle of Austerlitz, stopped in Rishnevets.

A museum was opened in the house where Kutuzov stayed in 2012.

Earlier it was reported that Moscow plans to restore seven monuments in honor of the heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812.
