Autumn leaves begin at Mt. Asahidake in the Daisetsu Mountains of Hokkaido, and are colored in bright red and yellow.

Asahidake, which is the highest in Hokkaido at an altitude of 2291 meters, is known for the earliest autumn colors in Japan, and this month, as the cold weather became stronger, it began to color a little earlier than usual.

Near the ropeway station, which is about 1600 meters above sea level, the area is colored in bright red and yellow.

The company that operates the ropeway has reduced the maximum number of people per operation from 100 to 50 as a measure to prevent infection with the new coronavirus.

A man in his 70s, who visits every year, said, "The contrast between red, yellow, and orange is wonderful. I think it's a beauty that hasn't been seen in the last few years."

The autumn colors of Mt. Asahidake will continue until around the beginning of next month.
