Two donors pay the cost of “Abu Khaled” medicines for a year

Two donors covered the cost of the medicines he needed (Abu Khaled - 53 years old) for a year at the amount of 53,487 dirhams, as a donor ensured his assistance with 37,737 dirhams, while another donor guaranteed to pay the remaining amount of 15,750 dirhams.

The "hotline" coordinated with the donors and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai to transfer the donation amount to the patient's account in Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi.

On the ninth of this September, "Emirates Today" published the story of Abu Khaled's suffering, and his inability to manage the amount of medication he needs.

The patient expressed his happiness and deep thanks to the donors and their stand with his suffering under the circumstances he is going through.

Abu Khaled had a liver transplant 16 years ago, and he needs immunosuppressive drugs for life, and his financial capabilities are modest.

(Abu Khaled) tells his story to "Emirates Today", saying: "I was suffering from cirrhosis of the liver, and health complications occurred to me, and in 2005 a donor covered the full medical expenses for liver transplantation outside the country, and it was successful, and I returned and entered Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, where I underwent For treatment, the doctors advised me to take lifelong medications, which are immunosuppressive drugs in order not to attack the transplanted organ.”

He added: “The doctors assured me that I should continue to take medicines regularly, knowing that I was undergoing treatment under the exemption program, but during the past two years it was stopped, and during the past year one of the benefactors helped me by providing medicines, and now I am unable to manage the amount, and the health insurance card. It does not cover this cost.

He continued: "My family consists of five people, four of them are in schools, and I am the only breadwinner for them. I work as an imam in a mosque with a salary of 7,000 dirhams, from which I save 2,000 dirhams for my children's school fees, and the rest goes to life expenses and requirements."
