According to a survey, the proportion of employees working from home fell for the third month in a row in August. 23.8 percent worked at least partially from home, as the Ifo Institute announced on Friday for its survey. In July it was 25.5 percent, in June 28.4 percent and in May 31.0 percent. "The vaccination numbers are increasing, more and more employees are going back to the office," said Ifo specialist Oliver Falck, explaining the trend. In August, however, the decline was less pronounced than in the previous months. "This indicates that the rate should stabilize at a level higher than before Corona," said Falck.

A decline can be seen in all branches of the economy.

In the case of service providers, the rate fell from 35.4 to 33.4 percent in the month just ended, in industry from 18.1 to 16.4 percent, in wholesale from 17.2 to 15.8 percent, in retail from 6 .3 to 5.3 percent and on construction from 6.3 to 5.0 percent.

The home office share fell particularly sharply among pharmaceutical manufacturers, from 35.8 to 15.7 percent.

However, the home office share grew against the trend in some industries - for example in the chemical industry, with manufacturers of leather, wood and wickerwork, as well as with postal and courier services and broadcasters.
