51 Afghan refugees have been welcomed in Uganda and many more evacuees are due to arrive in the coming days.
Their reception had been under discussion for more than a week between the Ugandan and American authorities.
Neighboring Rwanda has also volunteered to receive Afghan refugees since the Taliban took power.
The President of the DRC, Félix Tshisekedi, is in Europe this week.
He plans to visit Germany, Italy and Belgium.
Since coming to power in January 2019, he has increased the number of expensive trips abroad, which has earned him some criticism of the results of these trips.
