In Tokyo, the number of inpatients continues to reach a record high due to the rapid spread of the new coronavirus infection, and the city is continuing to make adjustments to further increase the number of beds, but it is difficult to secure personnel from medical institutions. With harsh voices, it is difficult to secure more beds.

As of the 11th, the number of inpatients in Tokyo was 3,667, which was a record high for 5 consecutive days, and the number of seriously ill patients calculated by the Tokyo standard was 197, which is a record high.

The city currently has 5967 beds to accommodate patients with the new coronavirus, but would like to increase it by about 400 to 6406, the largest number ever.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government requested medical institutions to secure additional beds on August 6th, with a view to limiting regular medical care, but adjustments are still ongoing on the 11th.

According to the city, there are harsh voices from the medical field that it is difficult to secure personnel and it is not possible to balance with normal medical care, and it is difficult to secure more beds.

As the medical care provision system in Tokyo becomes more tight, some experts say that the situation is the same as in the event of a disaster, and the city is rushing to secure a bed.
