The mother of two girls found lifeless on the night of July 20 to 21 at their home in Relecq-Kerhuon (Finistère), near Brest, was indicted for "murders" and placed in pre-trial detention.

Aged 35, the mother was again placed in police custody on Monday at the Brest gendarmerie research brigade, after her hospitalization.

The prosecution opened a judicial investigation against her for murder, then she was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention.

During her hearing, she confirmed her first statements, that is to say "to be at the origin of the voluntary and premeditated death" of the two girls, indicated the public prosecutor Camille Miansoni.

She "also confirmed the reason for this act, namely the marital breakdown announced by her husband on May 14".

"Death by drowning"

The autopsy of the bodies of the two children, "almost 6 years and 4 years old", had concluded "to a death by drowning".

"No injuries or traces of external violence were discovered on the bodies," added the magistrate.

The mother was then hospitalized, but could be heard under custody, before it was released after a few hours for medical reasons.

Examinations carried out on the mother had revealed "a chest wound of 1.5 cm", as well as "lesions compatible with the ingestion of caustic products".
