Through a press release published this Thursday and taken up by France 3, the Extinction Rébellion group claimed the sabotage of 300 electric scooters in Lyon for the single month of July.

"In this month of July, we, Lyonnais activists of the Extinction Rebellion movement, sabotaged 300 scooters belonging to the start-ups Dott and Tier, rendering them unusable until they were repaired", writes the movement.

Through this action, the group seeks to denounce a service that it considers "anti-environmental" and "anti-social".

“Make no mistake about it;

despite their green-washing varnish, Dott and Tier created new polluting needs.

Not emitting CO2 when riding scooters does not mean having a positive carbon footprint.

Employing people on a temporary basis with the prospect of a permanent contract does not make them a social enterprise.

“, Says the collective.

Following these acts of civil disobedience, three activists were arrested during one of their evening of action and spent 18 hours in custody.

In order to continue their fight, the collective announces that it will make the sabotage process public, so that the action is “achievable for everyone”, starting in September.
