[Explanation] In July, the plateau has already entered midsummer, but the night patrols of the Potala Palace put on thick cotton clothes and entered a state of intense work.

After the palace was closed in the afternoon, the investigators composed of security, water and electricity, fire fighting, maintenance, and light incense specialists inspected the palace hall, incense burner, butter lamp, etc. of the Potala Palace to check the power failure, light out, and flame out. Eliminate any safety hazards.

We have patrol teams on the periphery and above the Potala Palace. There are two groups of peripheral patrols and two patrols above, mainly to check the safety of fire protection, electric wires, and electric switches.

[Explanation] The Potala Palace, standing on the top of the Red Mountain in Lhasa, is a world cultural heritage. It contains a large number of precious historical relics and rare treasures such as Buddha statues and murals, and has extremely high historical and cultural value.

In 1984, the Potala Palace Fire Department was established and stationed.

In 2018, the Security Section of the Potala Palace Administration set up a patrol team to adopt a combination of civil air defense and technical defense to continuously optimize the working mechanism to ensure the safety of the Potala Palace.

We are divided into two groups, one group is on three days a week day shift, the other is on three days a week night shift.

After each group has completed the three-day shift, the day and night shift group must be rotated, and there will be no gaps in between.

[Explanation] After the investigation of the library, the reporter wore a headlight and followed the patrol personnel on duty to climb the Red Mountain, starting from the starting point on the northeast side of the Red Mountain, and winding along a narrow mountain road.

The team members kept patrolling with flashlights, and the road under their feet was a bit slippery. They kept reminding reporters to be careful of slipping.

At first, when we first arrived, the patrolling road was not very good. Some people slipped and got injured during the patrol.

[Explanation] The patrol captain of the Security Section of the Potala Palace Administration, Lang Lang, said that although the work pressure is high, the night guard work cannot be relaxed.

Since the establishment of the patrol, the Potala Palace has not had a security problem.

For me, there have been cases where my wife needed an emergency treatment late at night due to illness, but I was patrolling and couldn't leave the post, so I had to contact my brother to help me get to the hospital.

[Explanation] The night is getting deeper and deeper, and the patrol on the mountain descends along the path of the bushes and walks to the duty point at the west gate of the Potala Palace to make shifts.

The two team members ready to go on patrol continued.

[Sound of the scene] Compared with winter, due to more rain recently, there is not much fire hazard, but you cannot relax because of this, and you must check carefully.

[Explanation] After going down the mountain, the reporter continued to walk into Syracuse at the foot of the Potala Palace.

At this time, the Syracuse patrol team was inspecting the fire-fighting facilities, and they were still busy.

Lang Lang introduced that even though the Potala Palace was closed for several months due to the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the patrol work has never stopped.

The patrol team has to patrol several times every night, and each patrol takes at least one hour. The average number of steps of the team members also exceeds 30,000.

When the reporter left, the lights of the Potala Palace had been extinguished. In the dead of night, the work of the patrol was still going on and stayed up all night.
