A booklet has been completed that summarizes the stories and support of experienced people, how to deal with worries and conflicts as a father when it is pointed out that the baby may have an illness or disability.

This booklet "For Fathers" was created by the NPO "Parents and Children's Future Support Association" created by doctors and parents of children with disabilities.

We conducted a survey of about 30 fathers who had been pointed out that they may have illness or disability before or after their baby was born.

Among them, the voice from the father saying "I was restraining my feelings while my wife was shocked" and "Please do not deny your feelings. With the support of others, even one calms your mind. Expert advice such as "If you can find words and thoughts, you will feel better."

It also contains advice on how to proceed with discussions with your partner and family, such as "Talking about your new life and family with your siblings."

Dr. Nobuhiko Hayashi, the director of the organization that created the booklet and the obstetrics and gynecology department, said, "There have been few perspectives that men are also worried. I think it will also be. "

This booklet can be viewed and downloaded on the homepage of the "Meeting for Supporting the Future of Parents and Children".

The father who lost his daughter ...

The father, who participated in the production of this booklet and lost his youngest daughter after birth, said, "I have no place to express my feelings that I have to support my family, so I am in the car on my way home from work. I was crying alone every day. I want you to support the fact that there is a father who has the same feelings. "
