The number of Covid-19 patients continues to drop in French hospitals.

According to official figures, 8,232 patients were hospitalized on Thursday, including 1,162 in intensive care.

The lowest figure for more than eight months.

In hospitals, 109 new patients have been admitted in the past 24 hours (against 158 ​​the day before), according to data from Public Health France.

Even a decline in critical care services, reserved for the most seriously ill, where there were still 1,204 people on Wednesday.

30 new admissions were recorded in one day.

By way of comparison, the "réa" departments had 1,509 patients eight days previously.

2,664 new cases

In 24 hours, 29 patients died in hospital (four more than the day before), bringing the total number of deaths to more than 111,140 people since the start of the epidemic in March 2020. On the side of contaminations, 2,664 new cases have been detected within the last 24 hours.

A figure a little higher than the day before, where we had recorded 2,457 cases.

The positivity rate, which represents the number of positive tests compared to all the tests carried out, remains very low, at 0.8% over the last seven days.

34.5% of the population fully vaccinated

Since the start of the vaccination campaign, 34,103,180 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 50.6% of the total population) and 23,270,971 people now have a complete vaccination schedule (i.e. 34.5% of the population). ).

The authorities announced on Tuesday that France had passed the milestone of 50% of the total first-vaccinated population, and a third completely, while the rapid spread of the Delta variant, first detected in India, threatens to halt the decrease the number of patients in hospitals as has happened in other countries.
