Regarding the state of emergency issued in nine prefectures such as Tokyo and Osaka, the government consulted with a subcommittee made up of experts to extend the deadline at the end of this month to June 20.

The emergency declaration issued for the new corona virus countermeasures is due for the nine prefectures of Hokkaido, Tokyo, Aichi, Osaka, Hyogo, Kyoto, Okayama, Hiroshima and Fukuoka next week on the 31st, and Okinawa on June 20th. It is a deadline.

Prior to this, on the 28th, the government's "Basic Coping Policy Subcommittee" was held, which was made up of experts on infectious diseases.

At the subcommittee, Minister for Economic Revitalization Nishimura consulted on a policy to extend the deadline for declarations issued to nine prefectures to June 20, the same as Okinawa.

Regarding "priority measures such as prevention of spread," we also consulted on the policy of extending the deadline for the five prefectures of Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa, Gifu, and Mie to June 20.

On the other hand, the priority measures of Gunma, Ishikawa, and Kumamoto did not extend the deadline on June 13, and indicated that they would aim to cancel it by then.

If the approval of the subcommittee is obtained, the government will report to the Diet in advance on the afternoon of the 28th, ask questions, and then make a decision at the countermeasures headquarters.
