Iwate Prefecture has announced that an elderly patient who was hospitalized in a medical institution after being infected with the new coronavirus has died.
The number of people who died in the prefecture is now 41.
Iwate Prefecture and Morioka City also announced that 16 new people have been confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus.
The number of people confirmed to be infected in the prefecture was 1,257.
