Because I have lived in an old village since I was a child, I have been influenced by this since I was a child, and I will especially like this traditional Chinese folk house, and then after studying art, I will study and learn more. When I was studying major, I was thinking about using this ceramic art to restore such a thought and action in my own hometown.

[Explanation] In a private house in Pingyuan Village, Pingba District, Anshun City, Guizhou Province, pottery craftsman Huang Jiansong carefully carves a model of a formed terracotta house with a serious expression.

I saw clay debris splashing around, and a model of an Anshun Tunpu-style residential building began to take shape.

The work I am currently working on is an old courtyard in our stockade. It is an old mansion that is more than two hundred years old and is made of stone and wood.

There used to be many families in it, which was very lively.

With the improvement of modern living standards, everyone went outside to repair this new building. They all moved out. After seeing this old house slowly falling down, I decided to start working on it this year.

[Explanation] The 31-year-old Huang Jiansong graduated from Hunan Arts and Crafts Vocational College with a degree in ceramic art. In 2017, he dreamed of starting from his hometown. After seeing that there were few old-fashioned houses left in his hometown, he decided to use pottery techniques to create miniature ceramic houses. The architectural art of the hometown is in front of the world.

Over the years, Huang Jiansong has created many works of clay folk houses with local characteristics.

These residential models are fine and beautiful, with well-structured houses and rich details.

Most of them are some of my own ideas and ideas, and I will go to various places in the early stage to gather style.

There are our folk houses in Guizhou, the earth buildings in Fujian, the Hui-style buildings in Anhui, the folk houses in the north, and some folk houses in the south.

[Explanation] Huang Jiansong introduced that the process of making clay dwellings includes four steps: shaping, carving, coloring, and firing. How to reproduce the real appearance of dwellings is a key part of making clay dwellings. For this reason, he often gets up in the morning and starts carving. , One sitting is a whole day.

Shaping is the most important link. The middle step is the step of carving, that is, when you want to show some details of this folk house, you have to think about it.

In other words, you have to show some of the vicissitudes and history of this old house, as well as the doors and windows, as well as covering the tiles.

[Explanation] Huang Jiansong is accustomed to photographing the production process with his mobile phone every time he creates a piece of clay folk house work.

In 2018, he made a video of one of his works and posted it on social networking platforms, which unexpectedly attracted the praise and attention of many netizens, which also made him full of confidence in this craft.

Up to now, his online short video account has followed 830,000 fans, the highest number of video views has reached more than 20 million, the total number of views has exceeded 100 million, the number of likes has reached more than 7.3 million, and the comments have reached tens of thousands.

From the comments of (netizens), I will see them saying that from the work, I feel that I am back to the yard where I lived when I was a child, that is, the people in the yard. Things in the yard will suddenly remind them.

There are also some netizens who will encourage me, telling me to continue to cheer, stick to this thing, do better, and so on.

[Explanation] With encouragement from all walks of life, Huang Jiansong stepped up his creations. During this period, many netizens who love local culture contacted Huang Jiansong, and he customized the model of clay dwellings through online purchases. This also allowed Huang Jiansong to pursue his ideals. At the same time, the livelihood problem was solved.

For more people to find this lost beautiful, disappearing memory, which is the so-called homesickness, it feels like doing a very meaningful thing.

I usually take customization occasionally, and some customers will buy my works through this network. This income can maintain a demand in my daily life.

[Explanation] Speaking of future plans, Huang Jiansong plans to create more local-style residential works while improving his pottery and sculpture skills, so that more people can understand the nostalgic culture of clay residential houses.

At the same time, he also plans to open a training class in the village in the future to recruit students and encourage local people to become rich through pottery and sculpture craftsmanship.
