Recently, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Northeast China Resident Project Team, a Shenzhen Earth Nature Foundation, and Jilin Songjianghe Forestry Bureau launched the Chinese Merganser "Residence Project".

Because they like to breed in high trees above 10 meters, rangers need to climb to the top to install artificial nest boxes.

During the breeding season, these artificial nest boxes will become their "marriage houses", helping them to better raise offspring.

The Chinese Merganser is a rare bird in China, and the current population of the country is about 200 pairs.
