While museums have been closed in France since October 30, joined by art galleries for a few days, artist Olivier Masmonteil suggests bringing art to people for lack of exhibition venues.
The operation "A work at home" consists in lending during the time of confinement a work of art to individuals, a response to the absence of cultural places, considered non-essential.

To participate in the operation, simply go to the Instagram account @uneoeuvrealamaison, where the available works of art are listed, and make your choice.
Then send a few lines to
the gallery or the
lending
artist
to express their motivations.
If he is convinced, the lender then goes to the individual who must be within a radius of 10 km and leave him the painting, sculpture or photo to keep in his living room.
This is the time of the restrictive measures currently in force in France.
"
I think the work is a virtue to escape,
e
inally art anyway.
Culture is what allows you to get away from it all
, explains Olivier Masmonteil, artist-painter behind the initiative.
And when we are in a moment when we are going to be confined, where we are also going to be a little anxious, we will ask ourselves questions that are questions of eternity, in the face of existence, in the face of the beauty of the world.
It's good to have this element at home.
"
Several dozen artists, galleries and even the Fine Arts Museum of Lille are participating in the operation.
"
There, we are a little in a form of euphoria, because more and more artists want to participate, it's really very pleasant
", continues Olivier Masmonteil.
"A work at home" is intended as a little piece of a museum at home, a way of traveling and escaping
in these times of withdrawal
.
