Since Impressionism, different modernist art styles such as Fauvism, Cubism, and Expressionism have appeared. The great painter Xu Beihong (1895-1953) was born in Yixing, Jiangsu Province. He learned painting from his father since he was a child, and he came to Shanghai to make a living selling paintings.
