The Swedish Public Health Agency estimates that it will not be possible to ease audience restrictions until the beginning of May.
The original plan was to be able to slowly raise the audience ceiling from 11 April.
At the beginning of the year, the situation for the country's festivals has been unclear, but now several have started to cancel.
Will be back in 2022
In November 2020, the Sweden Rock festival in Blekinge announced that 83 acts had been booked for this summer's festival.
Among them were names like Guns N 'Roses, In Flames, Dropkick Murphys and Hellacopters.
Now the organizers announce that the festival is postponed to next summer.
The work of moving over as many of the booked bands as possible by 2022 is underway.
The first clear acts will be presented shortly ", writes the festival management.
Lollapalooza in Stockholm is also canceling the 2021 festival with Pearl Jam, Zara Larsson, Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone among others as main actors.
The festival announces that Pearl Jam is already booked for 2022.
Tickets are valid next year
- We simply feel that it is not possible to carry out the festivals as we want, therefore we have made this decision, says Anna Sjölund, concert and festival director, Live nation who arranges the festivals and adds that they lasted as long as possible.
Anna Sjölund says that the situation is financially difficult, but that there is no doubt about being able to return next year.
- We work with incredibly long foresight and we have raised that all the time.
It is years of planning and you have to work with us from the authorities to plan, she says.
Purchased festival tickets will be valid for 2022, but can also be redeemed.
Sweden Rock 2022 will be held June 8-11.
Lollapalooza 2022 will be held July 1-3.
