  • Between a sporting challenge and a new book, Tony Moggio embarked on the design of a bottle holder adapted to his handicap.

  • The former rugby player, now quadriplegic, gave him the name of his son Gianni, born in July 2020.

  • Tony Moggio has also created a clothing line.

We knew Tony Moggio writer, lecturer or author of sporting exploits, such as the crossing of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez in June 2019. The 35-year-old former rugby player, quadriplegic since 2010 and a melee accident, added a new rope to his bow: he is now an inventor.

The Haut-Garonnais actively participated in the design of an adapted bottle holder, baptized “Gianni”, after the name of his first child, born last July.

“Long before he was born, I had researched the Internet to see if there was a product for quadriplegics or people with hand failures,” explains Tony Moggio.

I can move my arms, but I don't have finger motor skills, so I can't squeeze, pinch.

Already that I can not change my son's diapers or give him a safe bath, I wanted at least to be able to bottle-feed him.

"

The grip gave a hard time

Failing to find the appropriate accessory, the ex-hooker decided to create it.

“I asked my seamstress, who makes me the custom-made pants, to make the cover,” he explains.

My partner Albatros France [specialized in orthopedic devices], based in Agen, made me an ergonomic handle.

On paper, everything looks simple.

In reality… “The handle initially imagined was attached to the cover.

When Gianni grew up, I could no longer follow his movement.

At the end of ten prototypes, the finished product, 100% Southwest, offers a removable handle, because partly "unclip".

“It's a source of pride to bottle-feed Gianni, to feel him fall asleep against me,” says Tony Moggio.

This bottle holder is suitable for my disability, but also for people with osteoarthritis in the hands or even some hemiplegics.

This novelty is available from this Monday on the online store of the former rugby player, launched at the same time as the clothes of the “Phénix” line, which are aimed at everyone but “highlight people with atypical profiles, in a situation of physical handicap or Down's syndrome ”.

The hyperactive thirty-something does not intend to rest right away.

On April 29, he will publish his third book, focusing on personal development and entitled

If I was taught that the end of the world is tomorrow, I would still plant an apple tree

.

Then it will be time to gain altitude, to prepare for your next challenge, scheduled for January-February 2022 if the Covid-19 is okay: the ascent of Mont Blanc.
