The film dedicated to the superheroine will not be shown in cinemas in France because of the health crisis.

On Friday, Warner Bros. announced that the blockbuster in which Gal Gadot is headlining will be available online, in physical media and on Canal +.

The film should have been released originally at the end of 2020, and theaters were betting big on it.

But cinemas eventually had to stay closed due to the pandemic.

In France, where hundreds of films are overdue while waiting for theaters to reopen, media chronology rules prevent a film already shown on television, online or on DVD from being released in theaters.

The Hollywood major therefore preferred to give up the big screen and favor a release "on March 31 in digital purchase", on several sites, then on April 7 "in VOD, DVD, Blu-Ray" in particular, as well as an "upcoming broadcast. and exclusively on Canal + ”.

A first component at $ 800 million

After a first opus which had grossed more than 800 million dollars in 2017, this second part, lasting two hours and thirty minutes, is again entrusted to the American director Patty Jenkins and to the Israeli actress Gal Gadot.

The latter puts on the costume in the colors of the star-spangled banner, and returns in 1984, to the America of triumphant consumerism.

She leads an anonymous and quiet life, until events force her to ride lightning again.

Armed with her lasso of truth, she must restore peace, justice and avoid the apocalypse.

Warner Bros. isn't the only major grappling with the pandemic.

Universal, for its part, last week put an end to the first half of the year by changing the release dates of a series of films (

The Croods

,

Fast and Furious

,

the Minions

).

The most anticipated blockbuster by theaters, the James Bond

Die Can Wait

, whose release has been an Arlesian figure for world cinema for months, is still officially scheduled for October 6, 2021.
