Great Arab treasure found in Russia

Russian scientists have uncovered a region where unprofessional archaeologists (treasure hunters) found the largest treasures of Arab silver coins in Russia.

 According to the press office.

The chief researcher at the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Igor Strykalov, said: "We discovered a place where non-professional archaeologists (treasure hunters) found the treasure, after we found a place for excavations and we found coins that match those confiscated by treasure hunters on ... Although a few years have passed since the treasure of Arab coins was discovered.

In 2016 treasure hunters found a hoard of medieval Arab coins near the Istia River in Russia's Ryazan province, 300 km from Moscow.

The district police confiscated 228 silver dirhams and their remains from treasure hunters.

Scientists believe that the discovery of the treasure confirms the existence of the Great Volga Road, which connected Europe with the East at the end of the first millennium and the beginning of the second millennium. As for the Arab silver dirhams, it confirms the existence of trade and economic relations between Eastern Europe on the one hand and the Muslims on the other hand, through the mediation of the Khazars.
