Kologo
(Strut Rd)
Created by
Stevo Atambire
, and produced by
Wanlov the Kubolor
(Fokn'Bois) and
Percy Yip Tong
,
Aalstmen's
music
comes from the Frafra tradition of the kologo, a 2-string lute, which the group uses in innovative ways.
Wanlov met Stevo at the market in Accra, his sisters were selling fruit.
After getting tamed, Stevo went on tour with
Wanlov's
Afro Gypsy band
in 2017. They wrote this album on the road, between Uganda and northwestern Ghana in hotel rooms.
The name Aalstmen reflects the condition of the musicians before setting up the group "
Aalstmen, we are lost men, in the street,
forgotten",
admits Stevo "
With us, music is received as a teaching, and I hope to give my community some hope of success. "
The album
Kologo was
released on the English label Strut Records.

Urban Village
presents the album
Udondolo
(No Format).
When you have never known your village of origin, how do you find your roots?
The four members of Urban Village know only the sprawling township of Soweto (South Africa).
Their roots, hidden by buildings and concrete, are the source of their music.
Drummer Xolani (aka Cush) will be on the phone and will present, among others, the title
Ubaba.
