The number of bicycle violations detected by the police in the last year was 25,465, the highest ever.

Due to the influence of the new coronavirus, the use of bicycles is increasing for home delivery of meals and commuting, while the police are strengthening the crackdown due to a series of rule violations.

According to the National Police Agency, the number of bicycle violations caught by police nationwide in the last year increased by 2,606 from the previous year to 25,465.

This is the highest since 2006, when statistics remain.



Of the violations, signal ignoring was the most frequent with 14,344 cases, followed by access to railroad crossings that were blocked at 6005 cases, temporary non-stop cases at 1804 cases, and use of earphones at 972 cases.



Due to the influence of the new coronavirus, the use of bicycles is increasing for meal delivery services and commuting, but there are also a series of etiquette violations and malicious acts.



Police are calling attention to the possibility of a serious accident and will strengthen guidance and crackdowns on the streets.
