Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) was the first minister of the North Rhine-Westphalian state government to test positive for the corona virus in a rapid test.
"According to the circumstances, the minister is doing well, he runs the official business from home," said a ministry spokeswoman on Monday.
An infection chain within the state government is not to be feared.
"The whole cabinet is not affected because it has been meeting in video format for some time," said government spokesman Christian Wiermer of the German Press Agency in Düsseldorf.
Contact persons would now be identified and informed.
The local health department is responsible for this.
