Steven Soderbergh has decided to give a sequel to
Contagion
, his disaster film of 2011. As for the first opus, the director decided to team up with screenwriter Scott Burns as he confided during a passage in the
Happy Sad Confused
podcast
.
“I have a project in development that Scott Burns is working on with me.
It's sort of a philosophical sequel to
Contagion
, but in a different context, ”he said.
The first
Contagion
stars Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Gwyneth Paltrow grappling with a global pandemic caused by a virus reaching the respiratory tract.
As you can imagine, the film was a great success in 2020.
A premonitory scenario
It remains to be seen which direction Steven Soderbergh and Scott Burns will take for this sequel.
In 2011, Steven Soderbergh answered the 20 Minutes questions following the film's release.
At the time, he had made the least premonitory remarks while Scott Burns and he had inquired with the World Health Organization to write the film.
To the question "Do you think a global epidemic is possible?"
", The filmmaker replied:" We know that it will happen, but we do not know when.
All the scholars I have come across while doing research agreed on this subject.
