According to a newspaper report, the federal government is planning to change the rules for entry from corona risk areas.

It is planned that travelers from risk areas outside the Schengen area would have to submit a negative test for the corona virus before starting their journey to Germany, reports the "Bild" newspaper in its Friday edition, citing the draft of a new corona protection ordinance from the Federal Ministry of Health.

However, proof of immunity or proof of a corona vaccination would also be accepted.

According to the “image” in the draft, anyone who cannot show any of this should not be sent to Germany.

When entering from risk areas within the Schengen area, a test result, vaccination or proof of immunity must be available to the health department 72 hours after entry.

With the new rules, the previous quarantine obligation for travelers from high-risk areas should no longer apply.

According to the newspaper, it is still unclear when the regulation will be issued.

The draft states that this should be done in the course of January.

Since November 8, the rule has been in effect in most federal states that travelers from corona risk areas generally have to be in quarantine for ten days.

After just five days, however, those affected can do a corona test in order to end the quarantine early if the result is negative.

The Robert Koch Institute currently classifies all of Germany's neighboring countries as risk areas.

The decisive factor here is the so-called seven-day incidence of more than 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week.

However, this value is now clearly exceeded in Germany as well.
