In the last twenty-four hours, 13,406 new positive cases for Covid-19 have been recorded in France and 627 people have died, according to official figures, published this Friday, by Public Health France (SpF).

The number of patients in intensive care continues to decrease slightly, to 2,874.

This indicator, closely monitored to assess the pressure on hospital services, was passed Thursday below the symbolic bar of 3,000 (2,949).

In total, 24,943 patients are hospitalized because of Covid-19, against 25,199 on Thursday.

Over 55,000 dead

In addition, 627 new deaths linked to the coronavirus have been recorded, including 306 in hospitals in the last twenty-four hours, the rest counting deaths in medico-social establishments, in particular nursing homes, which are updated twice. per week.

Since the start of the epidemic, the death toll has risen to at least 57,567, including 39,605 in hospitals (according to Geodes data, SpF gives 39,631).

The positivity rate (proportion of positive tests compared to the total number of tests) is down very slightly, to 6.3%, against 6.4% the day before.

Faced with this health situation less favorable than anticipated, the government announced Thursday an advanced curfew at 8 p.m. and more severe restrictions for the holidays, to follow the confinement imposed at the end of October.
