Coronavirus: Cults agree on a protocol for the resumption of ceremonies with the public (Archives) -

VINCENT WARTNER / 20 Minutes

This is one of the questions of the alleviation of the confinement that could intervene in the coming days.

On Monday, cult officials agreed on a protocol allowing the resumption of ceremonies with the public during a meeting with the Interior Ministry, one of them said.

This protocol "will be proposed to the Defense Council on Tuesday" which will precede the speech by Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday evening, said François Clavairoly, president of the Protestant Federation of France.

Religious leaders (all faiths) propose a protocol with five main points, he explained.

“The first is that the services resume next weekend,” November 28 and 29, he said.

Capacity of 30 to 50 people

In a place of worship, a space of “4m2” must be provided between each faithful.

The gauge inside must be "flexible, ranging from 30 to 50 people", subject to the respect of these 4 m2, according to him.

Wearing a mask, hydroalcoholic gel, well-controlled entry and exit are other points.

“For communion, care must be taken that when the (Catholic) priest or the (Protestant) pastor gives the host or the bread and wine, there is indeed a distance of one meter” between each faithful.

Last point demanded by all those responsible for worship: that "in the next version of the certificate of exit to travel, be noted the inscription" worship activity ".

Around December 19, "if the health indicators are good, we will review the point", according to François Clavairoly.

Resumption of catechesis

This official also affirmed to have insisted on the importance of authorizing worship to the detainees, in the same sanitary conditions, and also to authorize the resumption of catechesis for the children and the teenagers.

On November 16, Jean Castex affirmed that a resumption of public worship - suspended during confinement - could be considered around December 1, on two conditions: that the epidemiological situation allows it and on condition of respecting a strict health protocol.

Emmanuel Macron is expected Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. during a televised address to unveil the main lines of a lighter confinement.

For the third weekend in a row, Catholics gathered again on Sunday in front of churches and cathedrals in several major cities in France to demand the return of mass.
