Monday evening dinners

To make a name for himself in the world of cinema, François Berléand found a very tasty recipe in his early days.

"At the time, I was good at cooking, I really liked cooking and I had a lot of free time during the day", recalls the actor.

"So I invited a lot of directors to dinner at home on Monday, the table at my house was open. And the more directors there were, the happier I was."

In implementing this strategy, François Berléand benefited from a significant family boost.

"I had a beautiful cellar, which I had inherited from my grandfather," he says.

"There were good wines and suddenly, I started shooting. For a young beginner actor, you have to know how to cook and invite directors to your home. It gives you chances, not to do lead roles. right away, but to have small roles. "

To laugh to be reminded

Once these small roles landed, François Berléand has an additional advice: to clown on the set.

"I am not called back for my talent, I do not have any. We say to ourselves 'Why not him? At least he will make us laugh'," he jokes.

But another factor also explains the long filmography of the Caesarized actor: his inability to say no.

"As I do not know how to say yes, I made a lot of stupid films", he laughs.
