A national tribute will be paid Wednesday afternoon to Samuel Paty in the courtyard of the Sorbonne.

During the ceremony, the history-geography professor of a college in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine beheaded for showing caricatures of Mohammed to his students as part of a course on freedom of expression will receive the Legion honor posthumously and will be made Commander of the Academic Palms.

"The martyrdom of Samuel Paty is well worth this recognition of his institution," said Jean-Michel Blanquer.
