The analysis of the health crisis cannot be done in a Manichean fashion.
European countries have been hit differently in time and manner by the coronavirus.
Several months after the start of the pandemic and at a time when a second wave swept through Europe, reports began to fall in each country on the management of this crisis.
In France, an independent assessment mission issued an interim report on Tuesday in which experts denounced the country's “anticipation and management flaws”.
In this thirty-page document, the French response to the crisis is compared to that of other Western countries, and in particular European countries.
Which countries stood out in managing the pandemic?
Different prices
Germany, for example, succeeded in containing the pandemic in its early stages thanks to massive tests in February and a policy of isolating patients.
For its part, Norway has instead opted for a tactic aimed at deterring without prohibiting.
Greece and Portugal have opted for zero risk, with flash containment.
Austria and Switzerland stand out with a very low number of deaths linked to Covid-19.
As for France, it still won a prize: that of world champion in the production of fabric masks when it suffered from a shortage at the start of the crisis.
