[Explanation] Patches of pinus sylvestris and sand willow are full of greenery, and the sand dunes gradually "shrink" and disappear... This is the scene the reporter saw when interviewing in the Kubuqi and Mu Us deserts.

Let the "sand advance and retreat" become "human and sand harmony". For decades, Chinese sand control people have made great efforts to "tame" the desert.

The Kubuqi Desert in the northern part of the Ordos Plateau in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is the seventh largest desert in China, with a total area of about 13,900 square kilometers.

57-year-old sand controler Gao Eryun told reporters that the local ecological environment was bad in the past, and the older generations hoped that their hometown could be green, and many people had the word "tree" in their names.

Gao Eryun's father, Gao Linshu, is the local leader in sand control.

In 1986, with the support of national policies, Gaolinshu contracted 800 acres of barren sand and started planting trees.

With the efforts of the father and son, vegetation finally grew on this desert.

  [Concurrent] Gao Eryun

My father started with that tree, and now we have 190,000 acres of trees in our area. These 190,000 acres of trees will block the sand and the vegetation here.

We can start farming and raising herds in this place.

Farming Our place is like my home, I grow 150 mu of corn.

I calculated 150 acres of corn and it can sell for more than 200,000 yuan.

[Explanation] The success of the second high school Yun family has stimulated the enthusiasm of the local people, and they began to contract sandy land to plant trees to find a way to get rich.

Thanks to the efforts of the local government and the people, the Kubuqi Desert governance rate has reached more than 25%, the vegetation coverage rate has reached 53%, the rainfall and biological species have increased significantly, and the dust weather has been significantly reduced.

The Mu Us Desert is one of the four major deserts in China, spanning the southern part of Ordos City in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the northern part of Yulin City in Shaanxi Province. It covers an area of 42,200 square kilometers and was once a barren land.

In the childhood memory of the national sand control hero Shi Guangyin, his hometown of Yulin is always full of yellow sand, and the house is often swallowed by sand. People can only move constantly, and life is very difficult.

  [Concurrent] Shi Guangyin

Why do I want to control the sand? When I was a child, I was seven or eight years old with Zhao Huwa (the village), and the sand blew us away.

Three days after scraping away, my father found me.

That Zhao Huwa never saw each other alive and never saw the corpse, so Sha ate him.

I said that I must do this when I grow up.

[Explanation] Starting from contracting 3000 acres of wasteland, Shi Guangyin led the local people to plant more than 53 million trees and shrubs on the contracted 250,000 acres of barren sandy beaches, Mu Us More and more green "footprints" have also appeared in the desert.

Up to now, the forest preservation area in Yulin City has reached 22.48 million mu, and the forest coverage rate has increased to 34.8%.

The control rate of desertified land was 93.24%, and 8.6 million mu of quicksand in the sandy area was all fixed and semi-fixed, realizing the reversal of regional desertification.

53-year-old Yin Yuzhen also fought the Mu Us Desert for most of her life.

In order to stop the yellow sand that continued to invade the homeland, Yin Yuzhen once sold all of the family's property in exchange for more than 600 tree seedlings to be planted in the sand to prevent sand and fix the sand.

Over the past 30 years, Yin Yuzhen has planted millions of plants in the desert, turning more than 60,000 mu of barren sand into an oasis of life.

Despite the abundance of life, Yin Yuzhen would still go to the sand to plant trees.

Yin Yuzhen said that sand control and tree planting are the guarantee for a good life.

As a sand control person, as long as he can do his job, he will continue to "compete" with the desert.
