Did the writers of

The Dark Hours

, starring Gary Oldman, plagiarize the script?

In any case, this is what a screenwriter named Ben Kaplan says.

The man, a regular contributor to the History Channel, claims that Anthony McCarten, who wrote the feature film, stole elements of his own script, entitled

Churchill

.

“Ben Kaplan has spent years developing, writing and redefining

Churchill

.

Several versions of

Churchill's

screenplay

have been distributed to members of the film industry in Los Angeles County, California.

Members of the film industry understood that Mr. Kaplan had created a script for a film about Winston Churchill and that he planned to turn that script into a feature film.

The accused are accused of using many elements and ideas specific to Mr. Kaplan's script on

Churchill

for their own film,

The Dark Hours

, ”reads the complaint, relayed by Deadline.

Not everybody

The most surprising thing about this affair, which comes almost three years after the film's release and its consecration at the Oscars, when Gary Oldman left with the statuette for Best Actor, is above all that the screenwriter of the film, who would nevertheless be, if plagiarism is proven, responsible for everything, is not named in the complaint.

By contrast, director Joe Wright, lead actor Gary Oldman, and NBCUniversal, which produced the film, are all on trial.

The plaintiff asks for no less than all of the money raised by the defendants from the film, which generated around $ 150 million at the box office.

NBCUniversal studio, interviewed by Deadline, declined to comment on the news of the lawsuit.
