British ultrarunner Jasmin Paris is the first woman to complete the Barkley Marathon in the required time of a maximum of 60 hours. Paris needed 59 hours, 58 minutes and 21 seconds for the almost 161 kilometers and 18,000 meters of altitude difference.

The race is considered the most demanding ultramarathon in the world; since 1989, only 20 people have reached the finish line on time. This year's winner, the Ukrainian Ihor Varys, who lives in Canada, needed 58:44:59 minutes.
