The incidence rate of Covid-19, which had exceeded 70 per 100,000 inhabitants in Sarthe a fortnight ago, is now down to 41.6 per 100,000, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) said on Friday during of a press conference.

The positivity rate on the tests went from 4.9% on August 21 to 2.5% on Friday in this department.

In Sarthe, “now the incidence and the positivity rate are on a downward trend, this is confirmed.

We will of course see in the coming days, but we are on a downward trend, ”said Jean-Jacques Coiplet, director general of the ARS Pays-de-la-Loire.

The downward trend noted in early August is also confirmed in Mayenne, another department of the region which had experienced an abnormal increase in the circulation of Covid-19 at the beginning of summer.

The incidence rate is 21.6 per 100,000 inhabitants and the positivity rate is 1.8%, said Jean-Jacques Coiplet.

He welcomed the fact that the efforts made in these two departments to curb the spread of the virus have "borne fruit".
