Vice Chairmen of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Tung Chee-hwa and Liang Zhenying, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Carrie Lam, Director of the Liaison Office of the Hong Kong Central Committee Luo Huining, Commissioner of the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong Xie Feng, Director of the Central Office for National Security in Hong Kong, Zheng Yanxiong, and Commander of the PLA Hong Kong Forces Member Chen Daoxiang, as well as the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, principal officials of the SAR government, the President of the Legislative Council, members of the Executive Council, some members of the Legislative Council, representatives of disciplined forces, former Dongjiang column members, and representatives of veterans attended the commemoration ceremony.

The Zhanzhuwan Anti-Japanese War Memorial in Zhanzhuwan, Sai Kung District, Hong Kong became the third batch of 80 national anti-Japanese memorial facilities and sites. one.

This is the second batch of memorial facilities after the Hong Kong Wujiao Teng Monument to the Anti-Japanese Martyrs was selected.

  [Explanation] During the Anti-Japanese War, the guerrilla fighters of the Hong Kong-Kowloon Independence Brigade fought bravely, fought against the Japanese army, saved Hong Kong cultural people, and made achievements in many raids and rescue operations.

The Monument to the Heroes of Anti-Japanese War in Zhanzhuwan was inaugurated on January 23, 1989 to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs and the people of Saigon who died heroically in the War of Resistance Against Japan.

  [Explanation] In addition, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs also announced the third batch of 185 famous anti-Japanese warriors and hero groups on the same day, including many martyrs from the Hong Kong and Kowloon Independent Brigade of the Dongjiang Column.
