The 12th edition of "Xinhua Dictionary"

  On August 10th, the 12th edition of "Xinhua Dictionary" was first published in Beijing Book Building. The new version adds prefixes according to national standards and teaching needs, and keeps up with the times adding new words such as "early heart", "like" and "QR code", and adds new meanings and usages close to life, such as "Meng". It also adds practical phonetic sounds to meet the needs, such as "'鲗(鲗)'zé for place names: ~ 鱼涌 (chōng) (in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region)", and the medical term "pu (cù)中". The twelfth edition completes the "Radical Checklist" and updates the appendix information. Each page is also accompanied by a QR code. After scanning the code with the Xinhua Dictionary APP, you can hear the pronunciation of each word and see the sequence of strokes.

  Seventy years ago, under the care of the party and state leaders, the "Xinhua Dictionary" began to be compiled with the power of the whole country. Academic figures such as Ye Shengtao, Wei Jiangong, Shao Quanlin, Chen Yuan, Wang Li, and Lu Shuxiang participated in the compilation and revision. The "Xinhua Dictionary", which has undergone many revisions, can be described as a "national dictionary". So far, it has printed more than 600 million copies, creating a miracle in the history of human book publishing. In April 2016, "Xinhua Dictionary" won two Guinness World Records: "Most Popular Dictionary" and "Best Selling Book (Regularly Revised)".

  Following the "Humanities and Social Sciences Reading Month" that runs through July, with the first release of "Xinhua Dictionary" (12th edition) as the prelude, the Commercial Press launches the "Xinhua Bloom-Commercial Press Cultural and Educational Reading Month", planning to explore the core of books Value, sort out 30 themes including taste the beauty of Chinese characters, science education, nature education, patriotism education, introduction to artificial intelligence, reading of classics, and recommend classic classics and fine books to readers.
