[Explanation] Zhang Yuhuan, who was detained for nearly 27 years and sentenced to death with a suspended death sentence for intentional homicide, was recently acquitted. He also returned to his hometown where he had been away for more than 20 years on the day the verdict was announced.

A few days ago, when the reporter arrived at Zhang Yuhuan's hometown in Zhangjia Village, Jinxian County, Jiangxi Province, Zhang Yuhuan was sitting at his younger brother's house and chatting with an old friend who came to visit him.

Zhang Yuhuan’s own old house is separated from his brother’s by a wall. Because it has been left unoccupied for many years, it is now dilapidated. His eldest son, Zhang Baoren, stands in it with many thoughts.

I clearly remember that (in those days) I liked to sleep outside the bed, because sleeping outside the bed has an advantage. I can see two geckos running around in this place.

[Commentary] He told reporters that through the past few days, the biggest feeling is that my father is like a child, he can't use many things, and his reaction is very slow.

What he talked to me was still the things of that era. He doesn’t know the outside (very unfamiliar), he doesn’t know the road, and he doesn’t know which one is which in the village, because my mother bought him a mobile phone and will teach him to play with this mobile phone. Currently, he is learning to make calls. I have been teaching these days, maybe I haven't learned it yet.

[Explanation] In order to help his father adapt to the new life as soon as possible, he will take his father to the village to look around and search for some memories of the past.

Look at which households, who used to belong to, the old fields, where there used to be trees in this place, and where there were trees, now he wants to see if there are any trees in it.

[Explanation] Over the past few days, I have accepted many media interviews and visits by relatives and friends. In addition, Zhang Yuhuan’s voice is a bit hoarse. Talking about the changes in his hometown and society, he admitted that there are too many things to learn and adapt.

The changes have changed so much, and my mother is also old. I am like a two-year-old. The (electric shaver) was taught to me by others. My friend sat here and taught me to use it.

[Explanation] It is understood that Zhang Yuhuan has already applied for a new ID card. In Zhang Baoren's view, this also represents the "new life" of his father. Their biggest expectation is that he can adapt to the new life as soon as possible and everything will get better.
