The 2020 Literary Prize for the Work of the Orient was awarded to  Pierre Klein for his book "  The wanderings to the West  "  (Éditions Olizane). Tigrane Yégavian's book  "  Minorities of the East: the forgotten of History  "  (Éditions du Rocher) received a special mention.

The jury was chaired this year by  Hélène Carrère d'Encausse, perpetual secretary of the French Academy.

Pierre Klein's historical novel recounts, with numerous sources, the journey of two Nestorian Uighur monks from Beijing to Paris in the 13th century. Tigrane Yégavian's essay revisits the Armenian genocide and the shattered dreams of Christian minorities in the East betrayed by the Western powers during and after the Great War. At the same time, it intends to send a message of hope to the younger generations, calling on them to no longer consider their destiny from the perspective of victimization.

Police and Humanism , the Christian association within the police force created in 1963, looks bitterly at the demonstrations against racism and police violence organized in France, the first half of June, in the wake of the George Floyd case, this African American man suffocated on May 25, 2020 in Minneapolis under the knee of a white police officer.
