[HIGHLIGHTS] Maryse Condé is dead: winner of the “New Literature Prize” 2018

Author Maryse Condé has died at the age of 90. Condé was awarded the "New Literature Prize" after the Nobel Prize for Literature was not announced in 2018 due to a harassment scandal.

She was born in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, and died in Apt in the French Vaucluse department. The real Nobel Prize in Literature, worth nine million crowns, was subsequently awarded to the Polish author Olga Tokarczuk in 2019.
