  • Last year, the 51st edition of Le Petit Paumé  was criticized as never after the publication of "discriminating" reviews.
  • The 35 students of the EM forming the new team of the emblematic association of Lyon currently mark a break with recent history.
  • Launched on May 8, their “Lyon c'est moi” campaign has already attracted the participation of 400 Lyon internet users.

"We arrived in a relatively tense context ..." Impossible for Romain Maillot, president of the association of Petit Paumé since January, to avoid the rough period crossed by this guide from Lyon published for fifty years, to more than 200,000 copies, by students of EM Lyon.

The 51st edition, released last October, has indeed sparked a controversy for several "discriminating" critics, as recognized by Tawhid Chtioui, then director general of the famous business school located in Ecully (Rhône). Each year, a total renewal of the Petit Paumé team takes place and the 35 students who joined the adventure find themselves at a turning point in the history of the “PP”. Romain Maillot (23) summarizes the state of mind of his group.

We felt that we had to find a way to put "Le Petit Paumé" as close as possible to the Lyonnais. I myself am from Lyon and I almost learned to read with this guide. I know the place he has in homes and how his release is a family event. It's time to save it, and in view of the break with readers, we decided to transform it into a real collection of good plans. "

"Keep an offbeat and sassy tone"

Places not appreciated by the students at the head of the “PP” will not appear in the guide, so there will be no more negative reviews in it. However, readers will find many opinions written by Lyon internet users who have no connection with EM Lyon. This is the meaning of the “Lyon c'est vous” campaign launched on May 8. "It allows us to refocus Le Petit Paumé by confronting the ideas of the inhabitants," says Julia Richi (23), in charge of press relations at Le Petit Paumé. We have received 400 reviews so far and only one is negative. This year, our good plans are theirs. "

Who says good plans says absence of slippage. “Our objective is clearly not to dismantle an establishment, insists Romain Maillot. You have to be responsible for your words and you can perfectly keep an offbeat and sassy tone while writing in a positive way. In any case, we are an independent association and we do not feel restrained at all. "

The Petit Paumé team ready to publish many reader reviews

Restoring the confidence of the readers but also of the advertisers is "a long-term job". With the Covid-19 health crisis added to this observation, the release of this 52nd edition in October is "uncertain". If published, this  Petit Paumé  will give pride of place to the texts provided via this participatory process.

"We can imagine ending up with an edition made up of only a third of reviews coming from us and two thirds from Lyonnais who contacted us," sums up Romain Maillot. We want to go all out in this project so that this edition of the "PP"becomes the good friend of Lyonnais again. "
