The first waiters' race took place in Paris in 1914. The city is reviving the “course des cafés’ - and 200 waitresses and waiters are taking part.

The two-kilometer-long route ran, among other things, through the well-known tourist district of Le Marais. The event may only be attended in traditional work clothing: black bottoms and white shirt or blouse. The tray on which there is a coffee, a croissant and a glass of water is properly round.
