Faced with the exceptional situation that France is going through, the government has decided to extend the validity of the technical control of vehicles for which the MOT expired after March 12. Their owners now have until June 23 to take the exam, reports BFM TV .

Longer lead times in centers

Initially, the deadline was to be extended by three months at the end of the validity date, with therefore a different deadline for each motorist. Now there is a single date, June 23.

The French concerned have every interest in anticipating because the waiting times have considerably lengthened. “Today there are fifteen days of waiting in our centers to pass the technical control, whereas usually it happens during the week. Because the checks that we are going to have to make up for because of the confinement are important in number, ”worries Jeoffrey Michalak, technical director of SGS, a group which notably owns Securitest and Auto Safety.

As a reminder, the motorist who does not have a technical control in good standing is liable to a fine of 135 euros.
