The Covid-19 pandemic in Chad officially begins on March 19, 2020. On March 23, two other cases were reported. The country's authorities immediately took steps to control the situation. How does all this affect the world of agricultural producers? This is the question that concerns us.

Publicity

Already in normal times, in the Sahel countries, agricultural production is not enough to cover the needs of the entire population. So much so that a term is part of everyday language in the countryside, the so-called lean season. That is to say the long months when the granaries are empty, when the new harvest is not fully ripe. With the measures taken to combat the spread of the coronavirus, the situation is experiencing a new gravity.

A final component which is of capital importance in the fields of agricultural production and the food situation of families: women. These women are present in all sectors of activity, be it production, urban supply, product processing and marketing. We see them very active in sensitive areas: the marketing of fragile products such as fish, fruits and vegetables. And yet, they are the most neglected. This does not make things easier, especially when a panic pandemic that freezes everything occurs.
