The background to the message is a hard hit advertising market, among other things in the wake of the ongoing corona crisis. For example, media company Schibsted's advertising revenues fell by 18 percent during the first quarter of the year.

"Hoping for solutions for voluntary departure"

- Aftonbladet is stronger than ever journalistic, we record records, both in terms of readers, listeners and viewers, we see strong growth in different areas. But that is not enough to compensate for a very challenging advertising market, says Lena K Samuelsson, publisher for Aftonbladet, to the Culture News.

According to the newspaper, it is now necessary to save SEK 100 million, and 50 services will be affected before 2021.

- We will develop a new organization with 50 fewer services, it will now be processed and negotiated. Exactly how to proceed I cannot say today. I hope and believe that we can find good solutions and that we can get solutions for voluntary retirement, says Lena K Samuelsson.

Svenska Dagbladet is affected

The savings package extends widely throughout the Schibsted Group, which owns both Aftonbladet and Svenska Dagbladet.

According to Thomas Berglund, representative of the union club at SvD, the group's Norwegian management announced during the morning that the entire Schibsted news media will save an additional 200 million Norwegian kroner, in addition to a previous savings requirement of 300 million. The increased savings requirement was announced when the Group presented its quarterly report.

According to Berglund, the increased savings requirement will primarily affect Aftonbladet, SvD has not yet received any directives on how it will affect them, but according to Thomas Berglund no services will disappear.

The cultural news is looking for the trade union club at Aftonbladet.
