He is known with the nickname 'Caifán Mayor' for his participation in the movie 'Los Caifanes' , by Jaime Ibáñez and with a plot by Carlos Fuentes , in which he played the character 'El Estilos', a role for which he won the Ariel award of the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences.

With more than 50 years of professional career, he is considered a benchmark of Mexican popular music and has an extensive discography that includes twenty records, among which the series 'Voz viva de México' , with poems by Sor Juana Inés, stands out. de la Cruz, Gilberto Owen and Amado Nervo.
