Coronavirus: Thousands of Americans "chill" on the beaches despite the pandemic - 20 Minutes

Florida, California, Georgia: same fight… Or rather, same observation. Thousands of people indulged in a bathing or sunbathing session on the beaches of Savannah, Newport beach, Corona del mar and Huntington beach, among others. And this despite the coronavirus epidemic that is hitting the country.

If the human tide that spread over the kilometers of sand on the west coast may have shocked across the Atlantic, but also many Americans, it is not illegal. Several governors have, in fact, decided to reopen their beaches and certain non-essential businesses to the public.

Little respected social distancing rules

Nevertheless, measures of social distancing are still taking place in the United States to try to stem a pandemic which has already made more than 53,000 victims in the country. But did not seem to be respected on the edges of the beach, nor in the water.

All-terrain cars crisscrossed the coastline all weekend to remind walkers to respect the recommended distances, but also the ban on lying on the sand. Tempted by the immaculate blue sky, many of them did not resist the call of lazing around in the sun, their feet in the water.
